FILM SCRIPT: A Short Film by Todd Fabyanic.
DESCRIPTION:
Elkrod's Forest is a fantasy fiction about poor oppressed people shunned from their homes who after an elder woodsman name Elkrod leads them to settling in the forest are once again chased by the king’s guard called the Kingsmen who want to finish them off once and for all, but when Elkrod leads the men in the forest to defend their new home, an unexpected final battle creates an amazing epic stand off. Will the people of the forest stand their ground and defend their homes against tyranny?
Setting: 100% in a secondary world? [Midieval World]
The setting takes place in a medieval kingdom with farms and surrounding villages. Most infamoues is the dark forest which is considered the wilderness in the country land. The King lives in the castle and the Kingsmen do the will of the kingdom, or so they claim. This is a time where the society of kingdoms have gone dark, petty, and cruel, due to greed and power. Many animals live in the forest, but much is unknown, therefore, mystical creatures do lurk. The forest element changes once the Kingsmen come, they change the envirment to make it look haunted by spirits and witches, unnatural things to spook off the Kingsmen.
Protagonist:
Elkrod is the main character; an elder woodsman. This means he is no stranger the forest and woods environment. He can hunt, fish, and make camp. He nows how to make the element of the forest supply the needs of the people. He is greatly looked upon by those who seek his wisdom. He helps or helped the people set up their home in the forest. He is also wise, brave, courageous but not stupid. He knows they cannot defeat a army of soldiers/guards, but he is also wise and knows how they think. Their superstitions. His knowledge is what leads the forest people to depfend their home. Together, they onl desire the same thing (Which is) to survive long enough in hopes of one day, returning to the homes and lives they love (Without fear of the tyranny).
Antagonist:
The main Antagonist of this story is not the King. No... It is in fact, the Captain of the Kingsmen who despise these people living in the forest. How dare they flee, not pay taxes, and dishonor the law of the kingdom. NOTE: This is a time period where law and power has no control. Those who make the laws have no remorse and consequences for action they distill onto their own people. The Captain of the kIng’s Men actually thinks he is the good guy, and they are the villains. How dare they defy order. He wants to rid them once for all.
Secondary Characters:
HERO – ELKROD: has allied with the forest people. His men are faithfull and seek his guidance to survive in the new environment. Elkrod is their leader and they treat him as King of the Forest.
VILLIAN – CAPTAIN: Is the captain of soldiers, gaurds, and strong men. All look to the captain for his authority and rank. His men are loyal by law, and do everything the captain orders. He has a group of men he keeps close as his peronal unit. It’s the next best thing to being in power in the kingdom.
WRITER INTERVIEW:
"The story works. The plot is perfect, and the story has a beginning, middle, and end. Mostly, the story has meaning. Oppression, tyranny, dictatorship, and ruled by law are common issues to this generation and future generations to come.
