Hugh Monahan did a fantastic job, and the first thing he said that really resonated with me was, “Expectation Vs Reality.” Immediately, I grabbed my sharpie and wrote this on my home board. It’s funny because I had a good idea of this concept before I started writing (Especially in FILM). I knew that actors and producers would make changes as they see fit. I also knew that the picture image we (The creative writers) have in our imaginations... will never be made in reality. Not even if you made the project yourself. We can only work with what we have to work with... that said, sometimes the reality outcome can surprise you (So it’s not always a bad thing). Still, I love this concept. Expectation Vs Reality is very real.

As for creative meltdowns, I can personally say that I have not experienced one. Usually I don’t begin to write until I have a complete idea. Timelines and deadlines can be tricky, but as for writing, I usually have it mapped out before I even begin. That said, after it’s drawn out–– That’s another story. Getting the programs to work (How to actually do it) and things like: Trying to email the file – come into play. I think it’s called Troubleshooting. Yes! Meltdown’s happen. Figuring out how to do it, or get it done –– absolute meltdown every time. I can say that... coming from my own personal experience.

I hope I stayed on topic, and I enjoyed the video. These issues and topics came to my mind as watched Hugh Monahan speak, and read the recommended questions for this discussion. Thank you for reading.
