One day, I sat down and questioned what I wanted to do with my life. I had many dreams and aspirations as high as Mount Everest. I was always a dreamer, even as a youngster. I decided to become a movie writer (Screenwriter). I had so many stories to tell, and I was always day dreaming and coming up with my own little stories to entertain myself. Everyone loved the stories I told. Why not make a career out of it? I decided to sign up for college at Full Sail University and begin my writing career. Best decision I ever made.

At age 45 (with assistance from financial aid) I was finally able to attend College. Living at home, unemployed, and still chasing dreams with a passion. At first, I was persistent. I wanted to be a film writer, and no one was going to change my mind. That did not last long. The reality of the real world kicked in, and I remembered the main reason I decided to change my life in the first place. I wanted my life to have stability, and I wanted to pursue a career, not just another dream that doesn't pay the bills. I didn’t want the next twenty years of my life to be a repeat of the last twenty I spent in struggle and hardship with no rewards or benefits. Which should have never happened, but it did. That said, I changed my career goals to more realistic goals. Which is the very message my professors have been trying to break through to my ego. I'm starting to, "Get it!"
In school I learned more than screenwriting. I studied all departments of writing career jobs. What I loved most was the course I took about the essence of stories (The Hero's Journey/Character Archetypes/Story Structure/World Development) and content creation. The very stuff i love. I also learned Copywriting, SEO, UX (still working on UX), web design, content creation, writing and self-publishing (eBook), writing revision, proofreading and editorial, children’s books, Grammer and Punctuation, World Mythology, college math, Webisodes, short film screenplays, and even T.V. script writing. We also studied the many genres of writing. I don’t think I can ever choose just one. One day my genre came to me, “Story-based Fiction.” I love it. It’s universal.
What an amazing journey the writer’s journey is. I still have ten months until graduation and courses like game writing, transmedia, comic writing, and graduation launch are in my final school chapter. I'm beginning to sit down and figure out which career path to choose, and I think life has made that choice very clear. No one knows the future, but we can choose the pathways we take to make our future. I can't give myself a job. Someone else has to give me a chance. I think about my life, and now I have chosen to pursue a more realistic job career. Hopefully, a job in my field that will support my dream to write movies and books. If I can get a good job, which will be a value to, my work while I work on my writings (movies & Books, etc.), I know I can live a good life. Who knows, I might catch a break here and there, but I’m not going to quit my day job over it. I am becoming a writer, and I love the industry, the people, and all the dreams we all hope to pursue. For the first time, I see a good future for me.
